In this professional learning PLC, Abernathy Secondary RLA teachers will come together to address instructional practices to impact student growth. Discussions and practice will take place in the following areas:
- Analyzing the RLA STAAR Blueprints,
- Moving Students from 'Approaches' to 'Meets' and 'Meets' to 'Masters',
- Addressing the Benefits of Multiple Genres of Texts,
- Using a Consistent Short-Constructed Response format for Oral and Written Responses,
- Comparing the rigor and effectiveness of Assessment Items, and
- Planning for Student Growth on Extended-Constructed Responses through Specific Element Targeting.
As time allows, other teacher-led objectives will be addressed that contribute to student success.
