Safety Planning Intervention
This course provides an introduction to Safety Planning Intervention (SPI), an evidence-based approach to reducing risk and promoting well-being in students facing emotional or behavioral crises. Participants will learn the six key steps of SPI, including identifying warning signs, developing internal coping strategies, engaging with supportive individuals, utilizing community and school-based resources, ensuring safe environments and enhancing follow-up practices. The course includes practical tools and templates that school counselors, mental health specialists, and other support staff can use within their districts to create effective, personalized safety plans for students and families.
