During this session, participants will learn about the Literacy Academy content, as well as receive PD in best practices, instructional delivery, and the latest research. Literacy Academy content will include how to
- integrate research-based strategies for the five components of reading instruction (Phonological Awareness, Phonics, Vocabulary, Fluency, and Comprehension) into their daily reading and writing instruction;
- use explicit instruction as they practice these strategies;
- incorporate these strategies into the reading program they use every day with their students;
- differentiate instruction to meet the needs of English learners and students who are struggling with learning to read; and
- use assessment information to make instructional decisions.
