Classroom Management
Classwide Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports



This presentation will focus on classwide positive behavioral supports and interventions (CWPBIS). Participants will learn evidence-based strategies focused on(a)maximizing structure,(b) establishing and teaching expectations,(c)actively engaging students,(d)increasing appropriate behaviors, and(e)decreasing inappropriate behaviors. Other topics include using data to make decisions, the implications of culture in classroom management, and building relationships with students. After the presentation, participants will be able to apply these practices in their classrooms and support others in their implementation of CWPBIS.

Important Session Information:


Diane Myers is an associate professor of special education in the Department of Teacher Education at Texas Woman's University in Denton, Texas. She earned her PhD at the University of Connecticut and spent six years at Assumption College in Worcester, MA before coming to TWU in 2014. Diane's research and teaching interests include positive behavioral interventions and supports at the schoolwide, classwide, and individual student levels, working with students with emotional and behavioral disorders, and improving teachers' ability to manage challenging behavior in the classroom.
