Looking Beyond the Words in Middle School Reading
Good literature always has “more than meets the eye.” When we read an author’s words, we understand that the author is telling us more than what is literally on the page. In this session, we will look at how good middle school reading instruction challenges a student's ability to connect with text, make connections between texts, and discern layers of meaning in text – skills that are vital to student success on the STAAR.
